Everyone's Model Priest

From Our Loving Memory :Rev. Fr. Corpuz- Birth(Aug1) 1st Death Anniversary (Aug 5)

I would like to do this honor to remember a priest –we extol his humility and venerable service to God up to the hour when his earthly mission was over!

The last communication of Fr. Reddy to me was the day of his very last birthday because I texted my birthday message. He said, “Thanks God Bless you and family!”I was springing with joy every time he would send a very personal blessing. Little did I know it would be his last because the day I saw him last year where he celebrated the “Ninth Day Prayer or Pasiyam” of my Kuya Ben, he proceeded the rituals despite the rains.

That was the day I also handed to him our Thank you Card. We expressed our emptiness in our loss after the death of my Kuya Ben. The card was to give our gratitude because Fr. Reddy became a dependable support in life for us and for my Kuya Ben he became a true good brother-in-law.

So, it really had broken our hearts when Fr. Reddy suddenly departed Aug.5. last year. The sadness of My Ate Dely, his sister made extreme emotional and physical stress. She lost a husband then her only brother.

Fr. Reddy who had brought countless beneficiary better life through scholarship grants.

I was asked by someone why I hug and kiss Fr. Reddy whenever there’s an occasion to meet him. That is like an innocent - sincerity reactive to his good tokens of kindness for all he did for me. My“ beso beso “ is a speak out-emotional spark out, nothing wrong of honoring with affection a spiritual representative of God’s church whom I’ve been attached as we go way back in our San Miguel roots.

That one example when you give kisses to your parents and when they’re no longer alive you would be missing the memory. For me, I lost a brother and I became empty without my VIP. I always tell that to Fr. Reddy he is my Very Important Priest or Very Important Paddle in my life. He and Msgr. Josefino Ramirez solemnized my wedding. I had the good fortune of getting his support during my low days. He helped my daughter get a scholarship.

Many products of Fr. Corpuz free scholarship to deserving families have done propitiously in their future. Their lives couldn’t reach success or the opportunities wouldn’t have any good advantage had a priest as kind and sympathetic like Fr. Reddy had anchored to every distressed family or he figured in their battles.

The coming generation will not be as lucky to have around somebody admirable to equal his goodness. He is an educator who stood out to visualize the empowerment of youth. He had been an icon. He reached to every family, perhaps little is known about anonymous priests who do a lot for the youth, for anybody who wants their path takes the only route with a difference where education is a staple achievement.

He was a composer of music sang in our Catholic churches, “Kahanga-hanga” jointly arranged with a Jesuit priest (Fr. Red belong to the family of the Jesuits and long been under the Imus Diocese.)

Now I looked at a thoughtful priest as another side of Fr. Reddy. The day I couldn’t walk after my release from the hospital because of a fracture on my left leg, I really thought my disability would be forever. Fr. Reddy came to our house very early morning. He asked how I was feeling. I smiled hiding any pain and while my Ate Dely also consoled me, I had my gut-feel there’s the faith or prayers of Fr. Reddy working through my down days and any pessimism I was having then.

During my period of recovery, I was feeling good because I can already function and do household duties. The passing days I appreciated life once more. I thanked God for I’m here. I believe in prayers and I believe my loved ones prayed so hard. But through my ups and downs I had reason to overcome them because of Fr. Reddy’s special blessings and like anyone he uplifted among many Filipino families — his passing is a great loss to many who still need the kind-heartedness of a very humble priest.

Rest now in the arms of your Master you loved and served the whole of your life. Thank you, you gave a piece of your own life to us…you are tall in the priesthood life and you could say everything is worth the hour of your appointed time you bade everyone with best memories. We recognize a priest humble without dryness or disservice to his faith but he left exemplary “milestones of good priesthood and unequalled contribution to education” so with that brings our respect and our lasting love! In memoriam ( Aug1, Birthday,Aug.5-Death Anniversary)
